B-Motivation: The Overall Goal With My Home
Business is...: Motivate yourself
by remembering why you are sitting down to work. Some of us like
quick pay-offs or interaction with people. You must remind
yourself why you sit down to work and do the things that you do.
C-The Goal of this Work Session: Prioritize the
three most important tasks--only three. Plan three tasks at a
time. When you have filled in the squares A-D, Start working.
Focus on one task until it is done, then move on to the next. If
you only get one task done, you will list the other two in Box G.
D-Additional three things, if there is time:
Before you start your session you will have three important tasks in the
C box, in this box you will plan the next three, in case you continue
working.
E-Unrelated Things I Need To Do When this Work Session
is Over: When you work you will think of a million unrelated
MUST DO NOW tasks in life---Call the PTO back, get the dog a grooming
appointment, or pick up the dry cleaning. . Do not become
distracted. Make a note in box E and continue working.
F-Related reminders, Notes and Tasks that come to mind:While
you are working, you may be tempted to jump ahead, or distracted because
you may not remember something, so you will get off task and jump
to another task. Box F will give you a place to make notes and relieve
your mind of things that cause you to leave your three tasks and go to
something else.
Make notes of where you need to pick up at the next
session.
G-Next Session: You will be tempted to skip this
box, but please do not. After you finish the tasks you can
complete for this work session, plan the next session's tasks and
when the next session will be. That way you will not waste time when you
sit down at the next session trying to figure out where to start.
Also, in box G, you will determine when the next session will be. Put it
on your calendar and honor it as if you were going to a regular job.
H- Report Card: Track good and bad habits that enhance or
deteriorate your work by grading your session. If you only got one
task done that took a lot of effort and time, and you are pleased, give
yourself a Great. If you knocked out all of your tasks, give
yourself a Near Perfect. If you didn't finish anything because you
allowed yourself to be distracted, you get a Poor. Note
circumstances that added or took away from your session. If you
used all of the boxes in the Focus Box, give yourself a "+". This
method will help you to learn what works and what doesn't work.
Other- Write anything you need to here and review
it at your next session. The Other box is just to accommodate your
musings or distracting thoughts.
Put it together. Print a month's
worth of focus boxes at a time. If you work on your project once a day,
print 30-31. If you work on your project twice a day, print 60-62,
and so forth.. Put
them in a noteboook and use one at each session.
